National Father’s Day Initiative

Posted on June 14, 2017

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has unveiled its National Father’s Day Initiative. All this month, you will notice Public Housing Authorities and apartment developments honoring fathers who live in HUD-assisted housing.

“Fathers provide our children with the love, support, and guidance they need to lead happy and fulfilling lives,” said HUD Secretary Ben Carson. “We’re proud to work with our local partners to help families across the nation to forge stronger bonds and brighter futures.”

Last week, we told you about June being “National Healthy Homes Month.” The 2017 theme of the National Father’s Day Initiative is “Building Healthy Families.” HUD leaders hope local communities will organize events about family health, physical fitness, nutrition and mental health.
