Navigate Awards $250,000 to NAHMA Educational Foundation
Donation to Support Scholarships for Students, Tenants of Affordable Housing
BIRMINGHAM, AL (May 17, 2017) — Navigate Affordable Housing Partners, a Birmingham-based affordable housing provider, today announced its $250,000 donation to the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) Educational Foundation in support of scholarships for students living in affordable housing communities.
“We’re proud to support NAHMA’s Educational Foundation and enable more students to pursue higher education,” said Eric Strong, Navigate’s CEO. “Navigate is committed to advancing the quality of and access to education for affordable housing residents and students. We look forward to creating more opportunities for students to pursue their passions and further their education and careers.”
Navigate’s gift will be announced today at 1:00pm at a luncheon during the Southeastern Affordable Housing Management Association’s (SAHMA) Alabama State Meeting in Birmingham.
The NAHMA Educational Foundation Trust has awarded more than $931,000 in scholarships since 2007, granting 79 scholarships in 2016 alone. The scholarships are available to anyone living in an Affordable Housing Management Association (AHMA)-affiliated multifamily community, and the deadline to apply is May 31.
Navigate Affordable Housing Partners (Navigate) is a nonprofit affordable housing provider based in Birmingham, Alabama. For nearly 15 years, Navigate has provided services to assist HUD in overseeing and administering the Project-Based Section 8 housing program in states including Alabama, Mississippi, Connecticut and Virginia.
